New Colors!

Well, here they are in all their glory! All 4 new colorways and I have to say they aren't how I intended for them to be.... But, that happens a lot with dyeing right? The one that stands out the most "interesting" is Caves & Crystals, its the one with pink, purple and black... The shades were suppose to be pastel-ish and a silver tone... But it ended up kind of dark and twisted... I do have to say that I am falling in love with it. You know a face that only a mother can love ;) I really do think it is going to make some RADICAL SOCKS! The dark green and brown is hard to see but it's really nice, trust me on this one! Great mens socks!

So can you tell I am justifying my failure of concept? Really they are all beautiful but , my favs are still in the first four. Wtih out further delay I present Forest, Caves & Crystals, rivers, and Ice & Snow:

here is a new batch of the last four colorways :

I made many in each color so I don't have to dye for a couple of weeks. I better come up with more ideas! I already have a huge list.... Solids are up high on it;)Take care, I plan to knit up some stuff this week and catch up on reading my blogs! I am sorely overdue!!!!!!

There was such a huge response that I decided to have two winners. I will probably have another contest this week to debut my new yarns from the dye pot from this weekend so keep a look out!

WOW, what a marvelous response to my new lace and sock (fingering) yarns. And look there is more to come! Tonight after to kiddos are snug in their beds I will be dyeing up 4 more lbs! I will be doing the original 4 colorways and also I will be doing an early release of next months colors! That will give me an inventory of over 20 skeins...wooo hooo! So look out for my next post to see my new pride and joys.... The theme is Nymphs, curious yet? Here is the undyed yarn.....

this is the "Child's Scarf" from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. I used Noro for it of course and I love the way that it's turning out.

I plan to start a pair of socks for my mother in law and a lacey scarf for myself this week, and I am kinda excited to start the new projects!

Too Cute
I have a brother and his name is Chuck... Brandon, my two yr old, can't make the "CH" sound so he calls him _UCK..(put an F in the blank)... It's really funny to hear him say uncle _UCK.... Kids crack me up!

Other knitting news? nope, I have been swamped with classes, kids and my new "dying project".... I have gotten 8 rows in to my Manresa project and I will begin the fair isle part of it this weekend I am sure!

In the pot
I like this whole dying thing I've got going on.... I don't forsee myself having the time to be as big as my two favs. (Sunshine Yarns and All things Heather), But I bet I can dye a couple of pounds a month..... I plan to have a theme each time I turn out a new batch..... This months theme is " In the Beginning" biblical I know, but it's fitting.... If all goes well, next month will be Nymphs (I'll explain it's importantance to me next month).

Yarn porn?
Brooks Farm, need I say more?

I finished it this weekend and of course didn't take a final photo :(

On the business front my stuff is up on Kpixie and I am pretty excited. I don't think that thrill will ever die.... It's the small things in life that make me giggle with joy.
I am really excited to announce that Mama Llama Accessories will have some yarns availble from the dye pot very soon! I have been wanting to dye yarn for a very long time and finally bit the bullet... I purchased supplies and finally opened a business account at my local finacial institution...So Here goes nothing! Wish me luck in this new addition.

"Fair" Knits!

I decided I needed a break from my store sample socks this weekend and did a little Norwegian Lovin' ;) My sister loved the idea of us having LSU game day socks that she asked me to do a hat. I wanted to get creative and found this awesome web page... So what do you think?

I was sooooo excited to do this project that I started a KAL for ANY Fair Isle Knits... go here to join if interested. I tried carrying the yarn in my right hand and the other in my left (my preffered hand) and for some odd reason when I was throwing the yarn and using my right hand instead of the left, my stitches were twisted??? Wierd huh? I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong?

I also dabbled in my cardi, and it's about 9 inches long now... I have started some impromtu cables around the waist, I'm hoping this will give it a little cinch in this area!

The family is doing well. My neice just moved here to Houston and we all are excited about her new job. Hillard and Brandon are beginning to act like "normal" brothers and they seem to pick on each other a lot now-a-days.... Still they pretty much ignore one another, but it warms Chris and I's heart when we hear them fight (because it means they were actually playing) he he he. Cute huh?

I have a new love now for fair isle... okay knitting obsessions:
1. Socks
2. Lace
3. Norwegian Fair Isle Does anyone know of some good books or web pages for this?

Can't seem to get enough of these ;)

Goals for the week? get sock done and bring to yarntopia... clean house.... and Catch up on those bloglines....eeek!
