I WANT TO MAKE THIS!

Image hosted by Photobucket.comOkay I have posted way too much today but, I had to share this with everyone.  When I finally finish all the things I am doing now I want to start this.  I LOVE IT:) As soon as I have some extra fundage I will get the Noro iro # 41 for hubby's hat, and worsted wieght yarn for this shawl.!!!!!!! Can't wait to try some lace!
(this is from knitty.com, archive section under shawls)

New Things:)

Image hosted by Photobucket.comI understand this is a knitting blog but I had to post a pic of Tommy the Turtle.  Yes a turtle has adopted our family.  He is almost the size of a hub cap and LOVES our backyard!

Image hosted by Photobucket.comThis is the begginings of the hat.  I put a ton of stitches on it, lost count!  I think once it is finished it may be big enough for DH!  It is skt st so it rolls.  using Sz 3 16' circs and sock it to me sock yarn.

Image hosted by Photobucket.comGoodies in the mail.  This is from Elann.com.  I didn't really expect it to be ribbon yarn but I think I like it.  This is the pattern of the tank top, better pic below.

Image hosted by Photobucket.comLots of balls for this project.  I made a swatch to check gauge.  It knitted up well but looks more casual that I had hoped.  I stopped and made a smaller swatch b/c I may make a ribbed sample instead to check gauge. As you can tell I am not totally sold on this yarn for this project!

Image hosted by Photobucket.comClose-up of the swatch do you like it?

Scarf Survival!

Yes! Its true the scarf has survived and is going strong! It is amazing what a glass of wine and Sz 3 DPNs can do! My DH left for his softball game and I couldn't bring myself to start over again. Got word from KnitWit Momma that her DD slipped all the stitches from her scarf (same project, told you I am a copycat) and she thankfully lost only two rows and recovered all stitches without a hitch. I thought after that story I should give mine a couple of more tries before I scrapped the entire thing:)
I needed a mindless project to start, you know knit in the round, so I started the hat for DS.

I will take pics once it begins to look like something! Thanks for reading my insane blabber about the damed irish hiking scarf, I hope it will be done shortly.

Say goodbye Scarf!

Image hosted by Photobucket.comTake a good look at it folks.  I am rippin' it out later today!  I just have made too many mistakes, and the fatal one happened at the 12th twist!  my sister called and I was not paying attention and all of the stitches slipped.  I have been rippin' it out row by row to recover the stitches properly but keep messing up.  Thats it this scarf was not meant to be.  I will start a new one with the remaining 2 balls I have.  I just can't face rippin' with out a WIP.  Oh I want to scream and cry at the same time! My hubby was scared of me last night b/c i was furious with myself.  he told me that knitting was suppose to relax me not raise my blood pressure:) he gave me big hug and tried to help. (to no avail)

Image hosted by Photobucket.comHere is a close up.  This scarf has taught me a lot.  I worked backwards, forwards, and learned how to correct a whole bunch of goofs.  Next time I will be more careful. Got the hang of it now:) Maybe I should start on my sons hat?  I will be thinking of tackling  this scarf  the whole time!

Moving right along.

I felted my bag again. I went to my first stitch n bitch and had a good time. I learned that I can felt my bag again, so I threw it in the wash and it just keeps getting better:)

I am moving right along on the cabled scarf. I was just reading the book stich n bitch and came upon the section where she describes all the knitters attitudes. I think you can describe me as the first two on the list. I want to knit hard things just to see if I can do it i.e. the cabled scarf, But on some projects I just want to wear the item and need instant gratification. I have a hard time deciding on projects myself so I end up copying a lot from my very good friend in the mountains:) KnitWit Mamma is so good to put up with me! In May I finally get to visit her and her family. She has a lot to still teach me.

For my next project I am making a tank top, after that I want to try my hand at lacing and socks. I just want to keep challenging myself, just feels so good to have a hard project done and think I DID THAT!

No pics this time I am about 6 to 7 inches into the scarf and still have a long way to go. The alpaca and silk feels so good with this pattern, I will probably use this stuff a lot:)

WIP!

Image hosted by Photobucket.comWell, here we go, I am getting busy on the irish hiking scarf. i felt like taking a break from my horrible aluminium size 7 needles. boy those suckers hurt my hands:) to cheap to buy bamboo sz 7! i am having trouble with my cable needle, but have successfully made my first official twist. boy do i sound green or what. the close up is below. I took the pic on the directions so you get an idea of what it is going to look like. (soon i hope)

I must tell you that i went to the hospital today to visit my sister and brought the bag for her to see. the nurse flipped out and showed it off at the nurses station. i like my new passion. it gives me motivation to learn more techniques:)

I have met a few people that have knit and stitch near me on thursday so i am gonna go.  I started working on my cable irish hiking scarf.  I am new to cable and thought this would be the perfect intro:) I know this WIP will go by quickly so i can start DS's neat hat i have planned. think I might throw in some cabling on that sucker too:)

I visit all these great blogs and they are so advanced! these mighty women pop out garments in a matters of weeks it seems:) can't wait until i get that good.

Felted Bag

Image hosted by Photobucket.comHere it is the rest of the yarn to finish my felted bag. I am almost to my first stripe, yeah! feels like I have been knitting FOREVER! I threw an extra skein in the pic that i got from the yarn fairy a couple of days ago! I love the colors! I saw on a few blogs that people described the way they knit. I like to wrap the yarn around my left index finger, it is so much more comfortable. I think in some ways I was meant to be a lefty:) I love knitting in the round, it just seems to more quick. If anyone has patterns for knitting accsesories, clothes and such in the round please send them my way!

So many ideas!

I have so many plans for knitting projects, and my DH is getting overwhelmed. I am working on a felted bag, next is a hat for him, KnitWit Momma linked me up to Yummy Yarn http://yummyyarn.indus3ous.com/ for the PERFECT yarn and pattern Noro Iro. I am going to give cable knit a try on a scarf http://www.helloyarn.com/irishhikingcarf.htm, a stripped alpaca neck cozy, and a shawl http://www.magknits.com/warm04/patterns/parisloop.htm

The Noro Iro is kinda pricey but i love the look of it! I just can't wait to show some pics of finished projects now:)

Progress!

The kids went to sleep before 8! That is amazing in our house. DH and I sat and relaxed. I actually got alot done on the felted bag. I fixed myself a glass of wine, crackers and cheese and knitted away. We sat together and watched our fav. shows on the tube. GREAT NIGHT!

Stitch Marker

I decided to make my on stitch markers. i am to cheap to pay for the fancy ones and used some old bead spacers and ribbon. the best part is if it gets caught up you can cut the ribbon and save your bead:) I was using cheap acrylic yarn CC for my marker, but it kept unraveling and falling off. this baby is staying put!

Project in Progress!

Hello! both photos below were taken just moments ago. Here is the link to this great bag! http://www.jenanne.com/PATTERNfeltedbag.htm
I had mucho trouble at my yarn store finding the tings i needed so I improvised:)

There are other projects i have my eye on already. I am anxoius to work with Alpaca, fingering yarn and DK's. I think a simple project to do after bag is hat for DH, then a "collar" i saw on someone elses blog. Here is the link to the collar. (you have to scroll down a lot)

http://almostfelted.knitblog.com/
You can read that she only used ONE BALL, of alpaca for this.

I have no clue what to do about DH's hat. 16" circ won't fit enough stitches in size 8 US. could i get a larger hat by using lighter weight yarn to fit more stitches on the 16"?

Later!

Picture of latest project

Here is a close up, i have a long way to go. Check my next posting for pattern and pic of this project:) Posted by Hello

Here is my work so far. I am using a 24" Sz 10 circ. needles. my yarn is Blue Boy, Nature Spun by Brown Sheep. My friend Jenn is sending me the contasting color, Lime, in a few days. Posted by Hello
